State Representative Kevin Honan donates to Loyola Academy Middle School Basketball Program
For more than 15 years, State Representative and Saint Columbkille alumnus Kevin Honan has supported Saint Columbkille Partnership School. Through donations for the BC Race to Educate and the middle school basketball program, Honan is a long-time supporter of his alma mater. Following his donation to supply t-shirts for the grade 6-8 basketball teams, Honan joined the girl’s 7th/8th grade team for their game on Sunday, February 11 to see the players in action.
“As a Saint Columbkille alumnus and former Chieftain basketball player, I am proud to support these extraordinary student athletes,” said Honan of his donations to the school.
Kevin Honan, who graduated from Saint Columbkille in 1977, and his brother Brian Honan (class of 1981) grew up in Allston and played basketball for school. Brian passed away from cancer in 2002 at the age of 39. Middle school basketball players commemorate him with his initials and his Saint Columbkille number 3 on their t-shirts during games.
“The middle school basketball program gives students something positive and constructive to do,” said Physical Education Teacher Kevin Otto. “Mr. Honan’s donations help make it possible for our school to keep the basketball program running each year!”
