The 2nd Annual Chili Cook-Off, organized by Saint Columbkille parents for teachers and staff, took place on Monday, October 21. It was a huge success: the teachers and staff were in awe at the spread the families so lovingly provided for them. They were amazed at the variety of chilis and many of them wished out loud for a recipe card or recipe book.
All of the toppings, sides, desserts and drinks made for a wonderful feast and while most filled their bowls more than once, there were still some leftovers to stock the faculty lounge. The staff who participated last year proclaimed that this is their favorite day of the year. Those who are new to the school shared that they have worked at a few different schools and said “you won’t find this anywhere else. This is unbelievable!”
The Chili Cook-Off fell on grade 4 teacher Ms. Piggot’s birthday. In addition to the chili for lunch, she also received personalized cupcakes from her room parent. Ms. Birnberg won a donated raffle prize, which added to the excitement of the day. The teachers and staff felt the love and appreciation that parents have for all that they do for their children everyday. These events showcase the wonderful community at Saint Columbkille. Thank you to all the families who participated to make it a success.
The staff took voting very seriously and gave each entry considerable thought. As in any competition, there can only be one winner and this year was extremely close. Yet again, Aiden Wheaton (3rd grade) and his mom Kelly took home the title of Saint Cols Chili Cook-Off Champions. Congratulations Aiden and Kelly!
We honor, love and support all who serve! Students spent the week preparing for Veterans Day, with donations of candy, heartfelt letters of support and a beautiful blessing of newly donated American Flags to be hung at the school. 🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️ For more details, pics, and to read their letters see here: stcps.org/saint-columbkille-hosts-flag-ceremony-to-celebrate-veterans/...
