The 13th annual BC Race to Educate included almost 1,000 participants for the kids fun runs and the 5K race on the Boston College campus. The event raised more than $158,000 to support programs and services ensuring that all students at Saint Columbkille receive a high-quality Catholic education.
The event included a welcome from Head of School Jennifer Kowieski, presenting of the colors by the Boston College ROTC, a performance by the Boston College Pep Band, as well as the national anthem sung by the Saint Cols choir. Baldwin the Eagle helped pump up the runners and the spectators. Volunteer athletes from BC's football, hockey and cheer and dance teams assisted on the race course and at the finish line. Additionally, runners from local area high schools participated, including BC High, Mount Alvernia, Cristo Rey, Newton Country Day, Ursuline, Boston Latin School, Boston Latin Academy, The Newman School, Xaverian Brothers and St. Joseph Prep. And, former Saint Cols graduates and former teachers and staff joined us as well.
We could not have done the race without the help of our amazing community - families, students, teachers and sponsors. THANK YOU!
