On June 8th, 2024, over 160 guests gathered for the annual alumni reunion, Come Home to Columb, to celebrate the induction of five community members, four of which are alumni, into the Saint Columbkille Hall of Honor.
The Saint Columbkille Hall of Honor, established in 2024, celebrates individuals who have made significant contributions to the school through scholarship, leadership, and service. These honorees inspire current and future generations, promoting a legacy of learning and service to others.
This year’s inductees are:
- Leo F. Buckley (Class of 1946)
- Legendary Player, Coach (1958-73), and Athletic Director (1975-92)
- Mary Donahue (Class of 1966)
- Scholar Athlete, Groundbreaking Role Model as one of the first ten women pilots in the US Air Force (1977)
- Sr. Mary Black
- High School Principal (1971-74), Dedicated Teacher and School Leader with a deep commitment to social justice and community service
- Michael L. Buckley (Class of 1973)
- Outstanding Scholar Athlete, Leading Basketball Scorer (1973), Coach (1978-92), and Assistant Athletic Director (1982-92)
- John Hoffman (Class of 1979)
- Accomplished Girls’ Basketball Coach (1991-92), Girls’ Softball Coach (1988-92), and Boston Globe Softball Coach of the Year (1992)

The event, which raised over $6,000 for financial aid, was a significant milestone for the school. “It was a joy to work with such a vibrant committee of alumni that are so committed to our school. This project was many years in the making, and it was so gratifying to see it come to fruition,” said Kate Ward, Chief Advancement Officer.
The Hall of Honor committee worked diligently over several months to review candidates for induction into the Hall of Honor. The Hall of Honor is located on the first floor of the school, just past the Peter and Honey McLaughlin Welcome Center.
This fall, information will be shared about nominating candidates for 2025, with new inductees to be celebrated at Come Home to Columb 2025. The Hall of Honor recognizes not just alumni, but others who have significantly contributed to Saint Columbkille.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who attended and contributed to the work of the Hall of Honor committee. It was a true celebration of what makes Saint Cols a memorable place to come home to.
