Electives and Specials

All Loyola students take PE, Art, and Music weekly. Spanish is taken three times a week.

Advisory
Once a week, students are broken into smaller groups with their grade-level peers to work on SEL (social and emotional learning) skills.

Study Skills
Study skills time is used to help students work on the skills of organization, note-taking and time management. Teachers guide students in effectively organizing their school supplies and assignments in a way that contributes to their academic growth. Time management strategies for homework and studying are discussed. This time is also used for 8th graders to work on their high school admissions essays. Loyola students have study skills class once a week.

Technology
Loyola students have technology class once a week. Students learn the fundamentals of digital citizenship and online safety while also building technical skills in areas such as coding, use of spreadsheets, typing, and artificial intelligence.

WIN Block
The WIN block stands for "What I Need" and is a study block that occurs a few times a month. This is also an opportunity for students to seek extra help from teachers, collaborate with peers, or organize materials.

Electives
Loyola Academy prides itself on offering students the opportunities to try new things, explore interests, and discover new talents and abilities. We help our students to develop the skills, knowledge and expertise to succeed in work and life in the 21st century. Once a week, students take an elective class in which they can explore an area of interest in cross-grade level groups.

Electives offered vary by trimester, depending on student interest and teacher availability. Past classes offered have included:
