William Gartside Head of School

This is my eighth year as Head of School at Saint Columbkille Partnership School. These past years have been the most rewarding years of my professional life. I have never worked at a school with so many wonderful supportive families, energetic and creative children, and talented teachers.

I myself am a product of Catholic Schools having attended Saint Madeline Elementary School and Saint James High School in the Philadelphia area. I received my Bachelors degree in Theology and Philosophy from Saint Francis de Sales College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I spent a year of graduate studies in Theology at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. After moving to the Boston Area, I attained my Master’s degree in School Administration from Emmanuel College and later on in life earned a doctorate degree from Boston College.

I worked as a teacher in Saint Rose High School in Chelsea, Arlington Catholic High School in Arlington and at Fontbonne Academy in Milton. My school administration career began at Fontbonne Academy where I served as the Vice-Principal for Student Concerns. In 1995, I was the founding principal at Monsignor Haddad Middle School in Needham where I worked for ten years. Prior to my tenure at Saint Columbkille, I was the Academic Vice Principal at Boston College High School.

I have a love for the outdoors and when I can bike, hike and kayak. I am married to the love of my life, Susan, who also has dedicated her life serving children in Catholic schools. My son Eric is currently a social studies teacher at BC High and my daughter teaches a grade four classroom at the Brook Charter School.

I thank God everyday for bringing me to Saint Columbkille Partnership School where I discovered everything is possible and where Faith, Hope, and Love abound.
