Learning Resource Coordinator

The Learning Resource Coordinator at Saint Columbkille Partnership School provides a variety of academic and special education services for students at the school.

Students are referred to the Learning Resource Coordinator through teacher/parent referrals or through existing learning plans. The Learning Resource Coordinator coordinates a variety of services for students, including speech language pathology, occupational therapy, academic support, tutoring, assistive technology and more.

The Learning Resource Coordinator performs the preliminary academic and cognitive evaluation and then writes support plans for students who qualify for services. When needed, she facilitates referrals to outside agencies, including public school districts. When students come to Saint Columbkille with learning plans issued from public districts, the Learning Resource Coordinator coordinates their accommodations with public schools and outside service providers. She also works with teachers on how to implement the classroom accommodations for these students. In some cases, she works directly with the students themselves, sometimes one-on-one and sometimes in small groups.

Further, the Learning Resource Coordinator works in the classrooms to support teachers and students, teaches an advisory class and runs professional development sessions that inform teachers about best practices in all areas of special education.
